Two ways to pay

The rate is identical. The difference is who holds your money, and what happens if something goes wrong.

Pay your instructor

Bank transfer or cash, as most of our pupils do. Pay as you go or pay for a block up front.

  • Full block rates — down to £34 an hour on 30 hours
  • No fee at all
  • Your balance sits with your instructor, not the company

Pay SAR Driving School

Paid to the company in advance — card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer. Same block rate plus 5%.

  • Your hours are held by SAR Driving School Ltd, so they survive if your instructor stops teaching
  • Free instructor swap — remaining hours move with you
  • Cover arranged if your instructor is ill or on holiday
  • Covered by our published refund and cancellation terms

Worth being straight about why the protection exists: hand an instructor £1,020 for thirty hours and they later stop teaching, and that money is with them, not with us. The 5% is the same however you pay — it is never a charge for using a card.

Common questions about prices

How much are driving lessons in Milton Keynes?

Manual and automatic lessons are £38 an hour in Milton Keynes, Bletchley and Leighton Buzzard, or from £34 an hour on a 30-hour block. Bedford and Northampton are £43 an hour with a 2-hour minimum.

Are block bookings cheaper?

Yes. 5 hours saves £5, 10 hours saves £20, 20 hours saves £60, 30 hours saves £120 compared with paying hourly. Block hours are used within 6 months.

Why does paying SAR cost 5% more?

The hourly rate is identical either way. Paying SAR Driving School adds 5%, whichever payment method you use, and buys protection: your hours are held by the company, move with you if you change instructor, and are covered by our refund terms. It is never a charge for using a card.

Do I pay before my first lesson?

No. Request an instructor, agree your first lesson with them, then pay — your instructor directly with no fee, or SAR with a protected balance.

Do manual and automatic cost the same?

Yes — the same hourly and block rates for both.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

48 hours' notice or more is free; less than 48 but at least 24 hours is charged at 50%; under 24 hours or a no-show is charged in full. Full details are in our terms.

Can I use your car for my driving test?

Yes, subject to an assessment lesson and driving to DVSA test standard. Ask us about driving test car hire.

Ready to start?

Tell us your postcode, manual or automatic and when you're free. A DVSA-approved SAR instructor gets in touch — usually the same day — and you pay only once you've agreed your first lesson.
