SAR Driving School

Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before booking driving lessons with SAR Driving School. By booking a lesson or block, you agree to these terms in full.

1 About SAR Driving School

SAR Driving School Ltd ("we", "us", "our") provides manual, automatic and refresher driving lessons across Milton Keynes, Bletchley, Bedford, Leighton Buzzard and surrounding areas. Our instructors are DVSA-approved.

We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16949309. Our registered office is 10 Western Road, Wolverton, Milton Keynes MK12 5BE. You can contact us at info@sardrivingschool.co.uk or on 079 02 02 37 37.

By booking a lesson or block of lessons with SAR Driving School, you ("the pupil") agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

2 Booking & Confirmation

A booking is not confirmed until you have received written confirmation from SAR Driving School via WhatsApp, SMS or email. Submitting a booking request form does not guarantee availability.

  • Lesson availability depends on instructor schedule, area and lesson type
  • We reserve the right to decline any booking request
  • Confirmed lesson times must be agreed between pupil and instructor
  • Block bookings must be used within 6 months of purchase

3 Lesson Cancellation by the Pupil

⚠️ 48 hours' notice or more to cancel or reschedule: no charge. Less than 48 hours but at least 24 hours' notice: 50% of the lesson is charged. Less than 24 hours' notice, or a no-show: the full lesson is charged.

Notice is counted from the agreed start time of the lesson. Where a charge applies it is deducted from your remaining block hours, or charged to you directly if you have no hours remaining. This applies regardless of the reason given.

  • Cancellations must be made directly by contacting your instructor or SAR Driving School via WhatsApp or phone
  • Cancellations via third parties are not accepted
  • Repeated short-notice cancellations may result in lessons being suspended or block hours being forfeited
  • If you fail to show for a booked lesson without notice, the full lesson will be charged

4 Lesson Cancellation by SAR Driving School

If we need to cancel a lesson, we will give you as much notice as possible. Where cancellation is made by us, your lesson will be rescheduled or the lesson credit returned to your block.

  • We are not liable for cancellations caused by vehicle breakdown, illness or circumstances outside our control
  • In the case of instructor illness or unavailability, we will attempt to arrange a replacement or reschedule
  • No compensation is payable for cancellations made by SAR Driving School in good faith

5 Payments

There are two ways to pay for lessons, and you may choose either. Our published hourly and block rates are the same under both.

Paying your instructor directly. Lessons and blocks are charged at our published rates, currently from £38 per hour and reducing on larger blocks, normally paid by bank transfer or cash to your instructor. No additional charge applies. Where you pay your instructor directly, any balance you have paid in advance is held by that instructor and not by SAR Driving School Ltd, and it is not covered by the protections described below.

Paying SAR Driving School Ltd (protected balance). Payments made to the company are charged at the same published rates plus 5%. That 5% applies to every payment made to us regardless of the method used — card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer — and is not, and must not be treated as, a charge for paying by card. It is the price of the following protections, which apply only to balances held by the company:

  • Your balance is held by SAR Driving School Ltd rather than by an individual instructor, and remains payable to you in lessons if your instructor ceases to teach with us
  • Your unused hours are covered by the refund terms in section 6 below
  • Any remaining hours move with you if your instructor changes, at no further cost
  • Where your instructor is unavailable through illness or holiday, we will seek to arrange cover

The 5% is shown separately at the point of payment and is non-refundable once lessons have begun. It does not alter the per-hour rate, which is identical under both payment routes.

  • Single lesson fees are due at the time of the lesson
  • Block booking fees are due in full before lessons begin
  • Unpaid lessons may result in future bookings being withheld
  • SAR Driving School reserves the right to update lesson prices with reasonable notice

6 Refund Policy

⚠️ All payments made to SAR Driving School are non-refundable except in the specific circumstances listed below. Dissatisfaction with progress, change of mind, passing your test early or finding another instructor are not valid grounds for a refund.

Refunds will only be considered in the following circumstances:

  • SAR Driving School is permanently unable to provide lessons and no alternative instructor can be arranged
  • A medical condition prevents the pupil from ever driving, supported by a doctor's letter
  • A lesson was paid for but not delivered due to our error, and cannot be rescheduled

The following are explicitly not valid grounds for a refund:

  • Change of mind after booking or paying
  • Deciding to use a different driving school
  • Dissatisfaction with progress speed
  • Passing your driving test and having unused block hours remaining
  • Moving area or changing availability
  • Relationship breakdown with an instructor where lessons can continue with another instructor
  • The charged portion of lessons cancelled by the pupil at short notice, as set out in section 3
  • Failure to attend a booked lesson

Any refund requests must be submitted in writing to info@sardrivingschool.co.uk. Refund decisions are at the sole discretion of SAR Driving School and will be responded to within 14 days.

7 Your legal right to cancel online purchases

This section applies where you buy lessons from us online or over the phone, rather than face to face. It sets out rights you have under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. These rights are in addition to, and are not affected by, our own cancellation and refund terms above.

  • You have the right to cancel within 14 days of the day the contract is made, without giving any reason
  • To cancel, tell us clearly — email info@sardrivingschool.co.uk, message us on WhatsApp, or call 079 02 02 37 37. You may use the cancellation form below but you do not have to.
  • If you cancel in time, we will refund you within 14 days of being told, using the same payment method you used

If you want lessons to start during the 14-day period. We will not begin lessons within the cancellation period unless you expressly ask us to. If you do ask us to start and you then cancel within the 14 days, you will be charged only for the lessons actually delivered up to the point you cancelled, in proportion to the total price agreed. Once the service you bought has been fully delivered, the 14-day right no longer applies.

Model cancellation form — you may copy and send this to us, but you are free to cancel in your own words instead:

  • Unused hours after 6 months will be forfeited with no refund
  • Block hours cannot be transferred to another pupil
  • Block hours cannot be exchanged for cash or credit
  • The block booking discount applies only to the bundle purchased and not to additional individual lessons
  • Hours used are deducted at the standard lesson duration regardless of early finish

9 Pupil Responsibilities

As a pupil, you are responsible for the following:

SAR Driving School reserves the right to terminate a lesson immediately if a pupil is deemed unfit to drive, behaves inappropriately or puts the instructor or public at risk. A full lesson charge will apply in these circumstances.

10 Test Preparation & Pass Guarantee

SAR Driving School does not guarantee a pass at the DVSA practical driving test. The number of lessons required to reach test standard varies by individual. We provide structured, professional instruction but cannot be held responsible for test outcomes.

  • We do not offer refunds based on test failures
  • The decision on test readiness is made by the instructor in consultation with the pupil
  • We are not liable for DVSA test centre changes, cancellations or waiting times

11 Use of Instructor Vehicle

All lessons take place in an insured, dual-control vehicle provided by the instructor. Pupils must not interfere with dual controls, safety equipment or vehicle settings.

  • Any damage caused to the vehicle by reckless or deliberate actions by the pupil may be charged to the pupil
  • SAR Driving School is not liable for personal belongings left in the instructor vehicle
  • The instructor has the right to end any lesson immediately if the vehicle is being driven dangerously

12 Privacy & Data
