Redmoor Roundabout — 2nd exit for Dunstable (A5 south)
The examiner may say 'follow the signs for Dunstable' or 'the A5 south' as you get near the Redmoor Roundabout. This guide is about reading the overhead signs and the road markings so you know you are already in the correct lane — and don't drift out of it.
Read the signs
- The first overhead sign shows that the left lane heads towards the A5 south.
- The second sign confirms that the A5 south is the second exit. Keep this in mind as you get closer.
- Turning left takes you to Milton Keynes East; straight ahead takes you to the A5 south.
Read the road
Our current lane — the left lane — has arrows for left and straight ahead. That tells us we are already in the correct lane for the second exit. Closer to the roundabout, there is a left-only marking, but that applies to vehicles coming from our right joining the roundabout — the straight-ahead marking for our lane still applies.
On the roundabout
Follow your lane past the first exit and it will take you straight to the second exit. You don't need to change lanes, and you should not drift out of your lane.
Remember
Signs first, then markings, then position. If both the overhead sign and the arrow on the road agree, trust them and hold your lane.
