Show Me, Tell Me — the brakes question

The question
"Tell me how you'd check that the brakes are working before starting a journey." This is a 'tell me' question, asked at the start of the test before you drive.
Say this
- Not spongy or slack — the pedal should feel firm, not sink towards the floor.
- Test them as you set off — a gentle press at low speed, before you build any speed up.
- It should not pull — if the car pulls to one side under braking, something is wrong.
The answer, in order
All three, in order: not spongy or slack; test them as you set off; it should not pull. Keep it short — the examiner is listening for the points, not a speech.
