Roman Roundabout — heading into Central Bletchley
Approaching the Roman Roundabout from the Fenny Stratford side with three lanes to choose from, heading straight ahead into Central Bletchley. Two give-way lines, and a simple rule: middle to middle.
The layout
Notice there are three lanes on this approach. To get to Central Bletchley you need to head straight ahead. In the video we use the middle lane, so that we finish in the left-hand lane on the exit and not in the overtaking lane.
The first give-way line
Give priority to traffic coming from your right before you enter. As you are in the middle lane, just think 'middle to middle' — enter and stay in the middle.
The second give-way line
- This roundabout has a second give-way line part-way round. Again, give priority to traffic coming from your right before you continue.
- Keep your car positioned in the outer lane. The lane to your right goes in the same direction, but that traffic will finish in the overtaking lane.
- Exit into the left-hand lane.
Remember
Two give-way lines means two separate checks. Treat the second one with the same care as the first — don't carry your speed through it.
